On Saturday, July 26, 2014, the GM Foundation presented a donation of $25,000 to Susan Taylor’s National CARES Mentoring Movement, to help fund critical mentoring programs for black youth in challenging environments nationwide.

Funds from the GM Foundation will also help ensure that nearly 60 volunteer-based local CARES affiliates receive ongoing training to implement responsive education programs.

This special moment occurred at the Hamptons home of Ms. Susan Taylor, founder of the National CARES Mentoring Movement and Editor-in-Chief Emeritus of Essence Magazine.

She was joined by Vivian Pickard, President of the GM Foundation, and Ed Welburn, Vice President of GM Global Design, for Cadillac Conversations, an informal group interview moderated by Jocelyn K. Allen, head of GM’s Diversity Communications team.
